2010 Valentine's Day Event p. 3 February 7th, 2010, 6:22 pm

Love Love ATTACK!

|< << | >> >|

Author Notes: Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 6:22 pm

INTESTINES!

So, the premise of this event seems pretty simple so far, right? The girls have been set on a romantic scavenger hunt in search of answers, but with Ami's unfortunate allergic reaction and Minako's two working brain cells, it's up to you to help them.
Excuse me while I smash the fourth wall for a second...
There we go, much easier to see now. Basically, the codes you see are different to the codes that Minako and Ami see. While the answers reveal a URL to you, finding that URL will show Ami and Minako the place where the next letter is... makes sense, right?
Basically, solve the puzzle/code on the letter here to find a URL. Use that URL to go to the next letter, and repeat until you eventually find the mysterious M.M.
Because this is one of 4KH's harder events, and there are some readers whose first language is not English, you're allowed to work together on this one. You can do so by leaving 'hints' on this page for people who still haven't found the next letter yet. You can't post full answers, show people the whole puzzle before they get there, and you can't talk about what happens in the comic(s). I'll be giving out additional hints if you get really stuck (or if it just turns out I'm terrible at this, which is much more likely). Please only leave hints if people have expressed that they are having difficulty. I also may have to remove comments that are too sledgehammer-y. Nothing personal!
Like the Hallowe'en event, there will be a few 'prizes' there for you at the end, and like the Christmas event, whatever happens is a part of 4KH canon. Which means this 'M.M.' exists and the events that transpired will be remembered by the characters later in the story.
That's about it, I think! I hope you have fun, and Happy Valentine's Day!

The event is set to end on February 14th, though this deadline may be extended if necessary.
LOVE LOVE PUNCH~!! ♥

Also, for future reference, there are no brackets in any of the URLs. If any appear in letters, it is to help define words.

Fishyscales (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 7:05 pm

Ugh!
Can anybody give me a hint with how I'm supposed to solve the second one? I've been trying for the last two hours and I feel like an idiot...

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 7:07 pm

Two hours? o _o;; To my knowledge, the event has only been up for twenty minutes at the most...
Unless there was a leak! e ne

As for the hint, well, there is a hint within the letter itself as to what kind of a code it is. < w<

- - - - - - - - - - - -
sailor_titan, February 7th, 2010, 7:55 pm

Oh man...
I HATE riddles GARGH DX< I'll never get to see what it is.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Chibi Jennifer (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 8:01 pm

What code?
Sorry, I'm a complete losty. What code? How do I start? lol

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Chibi Jennifer (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 8:04 pm

OOOOhh.no worries, I GOT IT!! ehehehe

- - - - - - - - - - - -
UNKNOW (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 8:17 pm

cool. what's that code? maybe compter had email?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
akagenki, February 7th, 2010, 8:49 pm

Okay, the first two were easy but I'm completely lost on the third. Has anyone solved it yet? T_T Please give me hints.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 8:51 pm

I made a stupid mistake in the code of the third letter, so no wonder you can't do it. - A-;; I'll go fix it now. I'm so sorry. DDDx

- - - - - - - - - - - -
akagenki, February 7th, 2010, 8:56 pm

No worries ^^ I'm sure these things get complicated. I just appreciate you taking the time to come up with this for us.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 9:01 pm

Thankyou for being so understanding, ahahahaha OTL. It's fixed now, and hopefully I haven't messed up any of the others DDx

- - - - - - - - - - - -
fiyero (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 9:03 pm

i was wayyyyy too busy with homework to stick with it. did the first one in about ten minues spent half an hour on the second one and i couldnt figure it out. any hints? i read the letter... didnt help much..

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Yume (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 9:12 pm

Ooh, fun~! I love puzzles!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
TooDiffer2BeReal, February 7th, 2010, 9:37 pm

having issues with the second one, any hints?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 9:38 pm

A hint people seem to have found helpful is that it's not an anagram, but another kind of code. That kind of code is hinted at within the letter itself~.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Kimberly (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 10:04 pm

A little help on the second one, please? I've been working on it for the past hour and still nothing. I get the clue in the letter, but I'm still coming up short. Hints, please?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
HakuKazu (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 10:05 pm

Hint
Is one hint hinting to the fact that the mystery M.M. is female? Because if so, I found something in the letter that indicates gender.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 10:08 pm

Kimberly - It's not an anagram, but you've probably picked up on that already. If you think you know the clue in the letter, then you might want to try googling it to see if you can come up with the kind of code it might be. Once you figure out the code, it's really just trial and error.

HakuKazu - You have...? That, er, wasn't intentional, so it may have been a slip on my behalf. Regardless, M.M.'s gender doesn't really come into play within the codes.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
TooDiffer2BeReal, February 7th, 2010, 10:08 pm

And now I can't get the third one. Maybe I'm just really bad at codes. Help?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
HakuKazu (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 10:17 pm

Hint
Oh, well, I always first check for capital letters and that is what keyed me in because it started with an M. ^^;

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Seq (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 10:23 pm

I think I've gotten a headache from the past two hours looking at clue two.

I see the hint, but I'm quite clueless at how it applies in any way. At all. >___<

- - - - - - - - - - - -
TooDiffer2BeReal, February 7th, 2010, 10:23 pm

Checked for capital letters, in the poem? Because I don't see any capital m's in the poem.
I need another hint for three, the numbers and poem one.

Seq- There's a clue as to the kind of code it is in the last sentence. If you search that type of code it will help.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
akagenki, February 7th, 2010, 10:24 pm

That was sooo much fun! And the ending is so worth the work! Thank you!

Oh and I'm sorry but apparently I'm a lot worse at coming up with hints than I am at solving puzzles. :( I can't think of anything that doesn't make the answers really obvious.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
TooDiffer2BeReal, February 7th, 2010, 10:34 pm

No more hints on three? Cause I still don't have it.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
HakuKazu (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 10:37 pm

Hints?
Any Hints anyone can give me on 2? I dunno if it's letters to numbers for the link or if you rearrange the letters to make the link fall into play.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 10:42 pm

I'm not sure what hints I can give other than those I've already given, but I get the feeling I'll have to repeat myself. Puzzle two is not an anagram, and there is a hint within the letter as to what kind of a code it is.
As for puzzle three, the numbers in the list are all double-digit numbers; like 05, 17, etc. Also, those two-digit numbers come in pairs.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
SailorDream (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:00 pm

First code
I can't even figure out this first puzzle, any hints?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Kimberly (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:03 pm

The fourth one- help, please?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
HakuKazu (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:05 pm

2nd
The 2nd one still doesn't make since to me and my friend. I don't think any leads have helped so far and nothing is making sense out of it. This really feels like it was overly thought into where only a select few who truly qualify within smarts like Amy can figure this out. That or a hacker...so simple minded folks are just going to have problems with it till no end.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Li (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:08 pm

solved third!
I've been lurking for a while. I'm from the forums and V directed me here. So, I'm pretty sure I've solved the third puzzle, and did the search, but I'm not sure if I ended up in the right place. Should I be seeing what I'm seeing? I don't know how else to phrase it.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 11:11 pm

HakuKazu - The second one is really very simple when you know the trick. As I said, there's a hint within the puzzle as to what kind of a code it is, so maybe if you're stuck you could try googling it. If I say anything more I'll be practically telling you the answer.
Li - Hi, nice to meet you. Uhh, I think you'd know straight away if you did the right search or not. The picture next to the search result should tell you straight away, so if you can't tell immediately, I'd guess it probably wasn't the right search, unfortunately. D:

- - - - - - - - - - - -
HakuKazu (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:17 pm

2nd
Does the hint have anything to do with the last sentence in the note?? I keyed on that but I am not sure if that is right or not.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 11:18 pm

Yes, that's the hint as to what kind of a code it is (not an anagram).
Really, the way to solve the code when you figure out what kind it is is just through trial and error. It's somewhat fiddly but not difficult.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Li (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:21 pm

confused
I'm easily confused. Does it stop at the third point, or am I getting a random aussie and not moving forward?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
HakuKazu (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:21 pm

???
Ehh now that just confused me even more.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 11:23 pm

Li - Perhaps there is more than one result that fits the search criteria?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Li (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:26 pm

It's only giving me that one result for the search criteria, and given the context, I'm thinking my clue is correct...I keep staring at the letter and going over my thingies again

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 7th, 2010, 11:29 pm

Li - Well, providing that your search is accurate (which it probably is), you should find an Australian with the same search criteria, a Brit with only half, and finally someone from Japan with the correct criteria and a relevant picture. Are you sure there isn't another part you haven't looked at? Because I haven't had any others with this problem... Though you may want to check back in a few minutes since that website is prone to problems.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Kimberly (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:32 pm

The fourth one? Hints anyone? Or is it really that easy and I'm just an idiot for not figuring it out?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Li (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:32 pm

feels stupid
Searched again, this time using spaces between what my geeeneeous mind came up with and now have more than random aussie. Clearly despite my code-breaking skills, the rules of grammar confound me.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Li (Guest), February 7th, 2010, 11:41 pm

and now number four is evading me :(

- - - - - - - - - - - -
SailorDream (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:00 am

3rd
Anymore hints to the 3rd one? I can't figure out the connection of the poem and the numbers

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Li (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:06 am

am I on the fourth or fifth
SailorDream...think about what significance pairs of numbers could have on the poem.

If anyone's on the fourth (after the poem one) I need help! Serious help! I think I've got bits, but they don't wish to work together.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Kimberly (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:16 am

Ok, on the fourth one- I'm pretty sure I've figure out the answers, but I'm having trouble with the link. Do you just throw it all together in the link or is there a method to the madness and you have to seperate it somehow? Am I making sense? Help!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
SailorDream (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:17 am

3rd- still need help
Still not getting it, does it have something to do with the beat of the poem?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Li (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:18 am

Woo-Hoo
Got it! Slap those all together, Kimberly! Thanks for all the hints and help! Loved that final page!!! Will save prize for future use (ie. after event is over) or can we use them now?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 8th, 2010, 12:19 am

Kimberly - You're making sense, don't worry. x3 For the fourth puzzle, the answers go into the URL in the order that they appear in the letter, in one long line. If you're still having some difficulty then maybe trie alternate spellings?

SailorDream - It doesn't have anything to do with the beats of the poem. In fact, the poem itself doesn't even need to be a poem for the sake of the code.

Li - You can use the larger prize any time you like, but it might be advisable to save the smaller ones until after the event is finished. And, congratulations!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
SailorDream (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:25 am

3rd again
By pairs do you mean 01 and 13 (the first 4) have a connection?

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Seq (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:26 am

Again, I feel silly asking for help - but I'm stuck on the fourth and final clue. Is there any sort of... hint about each word? :/

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Li (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:26 am

Thanks, Frizzy. Sidenote, can I use one of your images to make an icon? You'd get all credit, all I want to do is shrink it and add a caption. I am not so great with the arting, and am in great awe of your talent.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 8th, 2010, 12:27 am

SailorDream - Yes, they do. It's the same with the other numbers.

Seq - Since the fourth puzzle is the last in the sequence and the event has only just started, large clues about it will not be released just yet. Hope you understand.

Li - I'd be honoured. C:

- - - - - - - - - - - -
gah8( (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:43 am

arggghh
This is going to make me have an anuerism. Number 2 is actually giving me cancer.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Jenbunny (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:54 am

having trouble with the fourth puzzle ... but I'm determined to get it ^^;;

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Kimberly (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 12:54 am

The fourth one...still
I feel like a complete idiot. I have the answers- and I KNOW they're right, I can't possibly think of anything else that would fit- and I've tried every possible alternative spelling but the link is just not working.

I know it's only me that's screwy, but, for the sake of asking, is the link down?

...I'm sorry, Frizzy. I know you've got to be tired of me by now~

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 8th, 2010, 12:56 am

Kimberly - I'm not tired of you, don't worry! x3 I'm glad to see that you're enjoying it so much. ♥
The link appears to be working for me... are you sure that there are no dashes between words that you are using? The answer goes into the URL as just one long word... if you're still having trouble, then you can send me the answer in a message and I'll tell you if it's right or not for certain.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Yume (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 1:12 am

XDDDD
That was awesome!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Jenbunny, February 8th, 2010, 1:20 am

*sigh* well I still can't solve the fourth puzzle, but perhaps I'll have better luck tomorrow when I'm rested ... my brain is dead right now

- - - - - - - - - - - -
SailorDream (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 1:24 am

4th
I'm having the same problem as Kimberly -_-

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Kimberly12, February 8th, 2010, 1:34 am

Well, I sent you a message. And I signed up for an account just to do so! :3

Now whether you got it or not is a horse of another color...

- - - - - - - - - - - -
VO1 (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 2:52 am

There is 0% chance that I can solve any of these on my own. There's a better chance that I'll launch a rocket from Ft. Lauderdale than even figure out one of these. Thus, I'm going to whine to the forums for someone to help me!! I WANNA SEE THE END!!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
BLL (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 3:44 am

I can totally sympathize with you VO1. I'm no good at riddle-ey thingies either. ;_;

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Linz (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 9:46 am

Page not found
So I figured out the second code but when I enter the url it says "not found" D:

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Linz (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 9:55 am

Nevermind, I'm a ditz and didn't put in enough slashes. ^_^;;

- - - - - - - - - - - -
elianthos, February 8th, 2010, 10:10 am

oooh XD
Ok, the first one was very very easy, the second one too (you just had to fiddle a bit. You could have made us fiddle much more given the kind of code, Frizzy. Thank you for having mercy on us XD )
@Linz: the link is working fine on my end. Make sure there are no extra spaces and the slashes and dots are in the right place again? :3
---
BTW, I'm stuck on the poem+numbers. 5 minutes past and still no actual clue *sweatdrops*

- - - - - - - - - - - -
linni, February 8th, 2010, 10:29 am

I managed up till the 4th, these kinda games are fun! I was stuck on the 1st for a really long time. Hopefully I can get pass the final stage =)

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Kytan (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 10:30 am

I think I solved the last one (great job creating it all by the way),
but when I try entering the url it keeps saying "not found"...
I checked my spelling, and tried changing it...nothing... D:
but I'm pretty sure it's correct...
are you really sure the site's up?
Maybe I'm just being an idiot over something...
oh, well, I'll try again tomorrow...maybe then I'll understand what I'm getting wrong...

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 8th, 2010, 11:19 am

The page is definitely 'up' and can be accessed if you have the right words. I can understand your frustration since I hate these sorts of things, too, because even if you've got all of them right but one you will be 'wrong'. D:
That being said, puzzle #4 is meant to be the hardest puzzle, so it's natural to get snagged on it. Also, clues for it probably won't be released -just yet- since it is very early in the event.
...
Well, alright, maybe some clues. > _>;;

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Cruz-Hime, February 8th, 2010, 11:25 am

WAH!!
On the second one, is the second letter a c or e? I got the hint, but still after an hour I can't get it!! Is it supposed to be a phrase or something?

Time sure does fly by trying to solve this.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 8th, 2010, 11:59 am

There are no Es in it, so it's a C. B: Though you can crack the code while still thinking it's a C and you'd realise it wasn't very easily.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Fishyscales (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 3:35 pm

Scratch that
Can't figure out the third challenge for the life of me to the point where I've become dyslexic (can't even spell it right). After this challenge is over, are you going to be posting the comics up here? Because I just don't get what the code type on the third one is...

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 8th, 2010, 4:31 pm

Fishyscales - The comic will be posted up on SJ and DA when the event is over, sure, so if you really can't get it you don't miss out.

Fiyero - That wasn't the whole clue, but I'm glad you solved it. More clues will be released later, so don't give up!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
TooDiffer2BeReal, February 8th, 2010, 7:06 pm

got through the first three but I'm stuck on the fourth. I have a few words but I can't get them all. I guess I have to wait for another clue.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Four King Hell, February 8th, 2010, 8:40 pm

Well, first thing you need to do is calm down. e ______e

Once you've done that, you might try googling the hint you found in the letter. There are lots of google pages that tell you how to solve this kind of code.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
MaiaJ (Guest), February 8th, 2010, 11:46 pm

So close...
I am only one word away from finding out who M.M is!!!

There's only word word left on the fourth letter I can't seem to decipher...

... why the hell can't I figure out what a "rooms" romance is?!

But oh my god, FKH, this puzzle is even better than the Halloween one! Major brownie points for you my friend!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
MaiaJ (Guest), February 9th, 2010, 3:32 pm

YES!!!!!!!
I got it!!! Wow, best ending EVER! You guys are gonna love it! This was the best comic I've ever read! Entertaining AND educational!

Truely you are the best ;)

- - - - - - - - - - - -
elianthos, February 9th, 2010, 3:38 pm

At LAST *_*
The very last word in the 4th code had me running in circles for a while ^__^;;.
Actually I 've involved some of my online Italian friends in the game too. They really enjoyed both the game and the ending *group applause*
LOL XDDD , I was hoping for a certain scene to happen just like you drew it . Yay!
And one of the two celebratory buttons is just like that too *grins*. My connection is a bit slow at the moment though, I can't upload the pic so that I can paste it in my blog . Do you mind sending me the html code for the 2nd button via pm? :)

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Kytan (Guest), February 10th, 2010, 9:46 am

I finally did it!!!
I had the second word wrong...^__^;;
took me a while to notice...
But it was worth the effort!!!
It was really great!!!LOL
You made my day!!Thank you!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
James Birdsong (Guest), September 11th, 2010, 7:32 pm

You made many people's day. I'm not gonna play. I was late to this page by months as you see. I guess I'll never know what the answer could be. Unless a later page reveals that fact to me.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Tenko, January 8th, 2013, 1:44 pm

Ooh, a game!
I really like the idea, but I think I was too late. I get a deadend for the webs.com clue.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
kat (Guest), July 11th, 2014, 9:54 am

Good lord!
That took me forever to figure out the second clue! Though, it feels pretty darn good to get it right. I also learned a ton about encoding messages, too. Thanks for the fun! (:

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Tsunoba (Guest), September 7th, 2014, 2:28 am

Thank you
I was a little sad at first the the link on the second letter is broken, but since you posted all the pages here anyway, I can still crack the codes, and just get my reward by hitting "Next page."

So, thank you for making this puzzle accessible for people in the future. :)
