You should be able to see that Four King Hell has a brand new layout! While I kinda liked the old one, I always felt like it just wasn't... I dunno, 'Sailor Moon'-ish? Plus I felt cheap for re-using parts of the comic, and that was even before the pages were inked, so it was like... double-cheap. Marked-down goods that are on sale kinda cheap.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the layout! It's pretty much exactly what I had in mind (WHAT?!) when I set about making it, which pleases me.
As you may have already noticed, the picture to the left randomises each time you refresh the page. There are five pictures, one for each of the respective main couples, and I'll be adding more pictures as more characters are introduced (I'll hopefully be working on a Dimande + Saphir shot when I have time).
That's, um, all I have to say.
Have a nice day! Wish me luck on my flat inspection! :D
an enormous THANK YOU!! to everyone who left a comment on no-lurking day(/page)! I can't express to you how much it means to hear from you all, it truly is amazing. I feel so blessed to know so many people are reading 4KH. I hope to have a new page up ASAP! Thankyou again for the wonderful comments!
Thankyou to Starmie and Yume for pointing out that the reprint Manga actually revealed the colours of the Four Kings' stones; and that Zoisite's stone is specifically 'blue Zoisite' (or 'Tanzanite'). The logo (and the little row or rocks under the author comments) have been changed to reflect this. C: Thanks guys!
Starmie - Thankyou very much, I'm glad you do! Unfortunately as those are vector-inked drawings and I wanted to save time, I only coloured them in the size I'd be using on the website (plus they'd be cleaner without any resizing). So, pretty much what you see is what there is. D: Sorry about that, but thanks for the kind words!
BLL - Are you sure...? As far as I know, true zoisite stones don't 'come in' blue, with 'blue zoisite' being Tanzanite more specifically... and, flicking through that chapter, Reika wasn't in it. In fact as far as I know, nobody but Mamoru ever comments on or interacts with the four stones. But if you ever remember the scene in more detail I'll definitely be interested in looking into it.
Ed-chan - Hahaha, I wish I could gloat and say that I am t3h 1337 at interwabz coding, but most of this is just Frankensteined from my earlier attempts at making websites, and even most of that I copy and pasted from CSS/html tutorials free script websites. So I can't really take much credit for the actual coding, as much as I'd like to. I'm still proud of myself for making something that doesn't look like complete ass, though! :D
Starmie - O rly? I might have to make some wallpapers out of them, then. Hmm. I don't even know what resolutions people use any more. DDD:
On the color of Zoisite's stone...
I'm gonna show my nerdiness here.
In volume 2, act 11, page 198 of the shinsouban, Reika says to Mamoru: "That violet-blue stone, called tanzanite, is also known as blue zoisite." I think she's actually looking at a picture of a stone in a textbook Mamoru was reading at the time, but right after that he says, "Those are precisely the four kinds of stones that I have."
The new layout looks awesome, loved the pink. The rotating pictures in the background is a nice touch, as is the new title with the little symbols referring to Mamoru and the Shitennou.
The Rei/Jadeite picture made my day when I was bored in computer class.
Also, Ami really likes her uniform, doesn't she?
Oh Frizzy, the new layout is LOVE. I thought I loved the old one, but this one is 100x better. I had to reload like 8 billion times to get to Kunzite/Mina because Ami/Zoisite keep hogging all the glory. My favorite is definitely the Makoto/Nephrite. They ALL rock!
But you also win cookies for including the stones and the Golden Crystal in the title. Even if it is anime-version Golden Crystal. It is still shiny and awesome.
Spirit-hime - x3 Thanks! You may have to pause a little while between refreshing to make it actually try to find a new picture. Refreshing before the page has fully loaded makes it keep the same picture, it seems. Of course, there are only 5, so there's still a chance it could refresh to the same picture a few times in a row.
It took me FOREVER to find a reference picture for the stones, too! And I picked the Anime Golden Crystal because it looked more like an 'O', and because a lotus would look kinda busy in the logo. And also because it would be a bitch to make. > _>;;
And I'm also trying to find out what colour Zoi's stone should be.
Broken as in it doesn't work in Firefox. All that appears is the background, and an ungodly long scroll bar... that doesn't reveal anything. I'm in Safari right now, but I'd prefer to be using Firefox where I'm logged into SJ.
(I posted a topic in the forums before I thought to try Safari, but I think most people nowadays use Firefox.)
Hmm, this is weird. When I made the layout I didn't have the most recent version of FF, but my friend complained about the same thing. I couldn't see it. Just a few minutes ago I updated my FF, and lo and behold, I started seeing it too. I tried fixing something and now it seems to work again, for me; is it working for you?
Actually, it had nothing to do with my updating the images. I was fiddling around with it earlier trying to fix something else that bothered me but got nowhere. I had thought I had restored all the original coding, but obviously I had left something behind. I found it, deleted it, and that seems to have fixed that specific problem.
I'll say! Boy did that suck. Though in my defense, I think it showed up differently for me on my version of FireFox, so I didn't realise how much I had to improve. Hopefully now I can use the forums a lot more because they're not such an eye-sore. Because I do think that Aimoo is the best free forum service out there, despite its flaws; I've looked around and none of them offer the same customisability and flexibility.
Lovin' the new Layout! And especially the background text. But for some reason, whenever I click on the Archive section, the only thing that pops up is the funny little sub-title and then nothing...
But w/e. I can just click the latest comic link.
Great Layout! Can't wait to see more of the comic!
